Data You Provide
Search boxes on this site send the name, phone number, or address you enter to the third-party search provider that supplies the results. We do not store those searches on our own servers. If you contact us, we receive the details you choose to send and use them only to answer your message.
Data Collected Automatically
Like most websites, our hosting system records standard server logs such as IP address, browser type, pages visited, and timestamps. We review that information in aggregate to keep the site working and understand which Chico records pages visitors use. Cookies or similar technologies may support basic analytics and, where applicable, advertising measurement.
How We Use Data
We use the data described above to run the site, troubleshoot errors, measure traffic, and improve pages about Chico and Butte County record sources. We do not sell visitor lists. We also do not build profiles of individual users.
Links to Other Websites
This site links to government portals, Butte County and California records offices, library collections, and third-party search tools. Each outside site has its own privacy policy, and data you submit there is governed by that site's rules, not ours. Sponsored search results on this site are also provided by a third-party company.
Who May Receive Data
Service providers that host and support this site may process server logs for us. Analytics and advertising partners may receive the automatic data described above. We may disclose data when valid legal process requires it. We do not otherwise share visitor data.
How We Protect Your Data
The site is served over an encrypted connection. Server logs are kept only as long as needed for the purposes above. Because this site does not offer user accounts, there is no site password or account profile for us to maintain.
Users Under 18
This site is not directed to children and is intended for users who are 18 or older. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 18. If you believe a minor submitted personal information to us, contact us and we will delete it.
Your Data Rights
California residents may have rights under the California Consumer Privacy Act, as amended by the California Privacy Rights Act, to know, access, correct, delete, or limit certain uses of personal information held by covered businesses. California also operates privacy tools through the California Privacy Protection Agency, including the DROP deletion-request platform for registered data brokers. Because we hold very little, most requests are narrow: we can search our contact mailbox and server logs and remove what we find. Use the Contact page to make a request. Public records held by Chico, Butte County, or California offices are outside our control; removal or correction requests for those records must go to the custodian office.
Updates to This Policy
If this policy changes, the new version will be posted on this page. Continuing to use the site after a change means you accept the updated policy.
